Happy International Women’s Day
As a female CEO working in the tech industry, I’d like to take this opportunity to celebrate International Women’s Day. I am very proud to lead REPL, a global technology and services provider.
The tech industry has been working hard to attract women and there have been significant improvements, but there is still a long way to go and a lot more to do.
The gender pay gap has been on everyone’s lips recently and current stats show that in the UK the gap is around 18%, whilst in the US it is between 18-22%. At REPL our gap is only 2%. We are also breaking another technology and boardroom trend; our board is 43% female. Globally women only tend to make up 15% of the boardroom. As CEO, I am extremely proud of both of these achievements.
Technology is striving to break with its traditions and has seen some extremely successful females leading the way over the years, such as Grace Hopper, known as the Queen of Software who developed COBOL, to Anna Patterson of Google, Peggy Johnson of Microsoft and Sheryl Sandberg of Facebook. Hopefully the industry will continue to inspire more females to join its ranks and will see these women become the successful global leaders and innovators of tomorrow.
